Assessing their qualifications (such as specific requirements, education, or experience in the particular field)
-
Overall, evaluating their suitability for a role, program, or research
In-Person vs Virtual Interviews - Tips to Succeed in Each
In-Person interviews:
-
Typically more in-depth, it's easier for employers to assess body language and team dynamics.
-
Usually used for more competitive positions or for final hiring rounds.
-
Try your best to arrive 10-15 minutes early.
-
Focus on a great first impression; a solid firm handshake is a great example of this.
-
Focus on wearing formal attire (e.g, a blazer, leather shoes, and slacks).
-
Be aware of your demeanor, and make sure every interaction is friendly and natural. Do not appear arrogant or too casual; professionalism is a must.
